Development: Magazine to Words / Reshot

This shoot was development from the magazine words on the back of the model, Frankie. These images are still without the model's face keeping the importance in focus, which is her upper body. The model has self harmed across her stomach which adds to the image coincidently, it adding to my direction of photography of how a majority of girls don't feel confident in their own skin. The reason why I wrote 'bi-polar' was to show how girls who are really insecure feel like they are being overshadowed by their disorder and they can't get rid of it; practically a part of their everyday lives. These images were taken in the studio with the lights both high up and hanging over. The images were taken in Black and White because I wanted to show the essence of the image than the colour of her skin who anything else that would have been a distraction.

I had to re-shoot the series of images because the brassiere's was taking away the effect of the image however it was showing how she had low self esteem. To portray the insecurity in the images I had the model cradle her chest as some of comfort, in contrast to size 6 models now, they aren't afraid to be nude. The way the model is digging in her fingers creates an emphasis on how much she wants to change her self, especially located towards her stomach which may be what she hates. These are question I aimed for the viewers to have when looking at these images.
